What are ways I could serve / be serving in the church?

Every Christian is called to use their spiritual gifts for service within the body of Christ, whether it's through roles in the local church or in broader community outreach (1 Peter 4:10–11; 2 Corinthians 9:12–13). While discovering one's spiritual gifts may be a process, it's crucial to engage in serving rather than waiting to fully understand one's gifting, as service often clarifies our strengths and passions (Romans 12:11; 1 Chronicles 28:9).

Why should we serve god?

The mandate to serve God is evident in Scripture (Luke 4:8), but our personal motivations for doing so vary. However, a genuine relationship with God inevitably leads to service, as seen in Jesus' example of selfless service (Matthew 20:28) and Paul's transformation from persecutor to servant (Acts 9:20). Genuine service stems from love, rooted in our experience of God's love for us (1 John 4:9–11), and is motivated by factors such as gratitude for God's grace, the eternal kingdom we inherit, meeting the needs of others, and the assurance of God's recognition and reward (Hebrews 12:28; 2 Corinthians 9:12-13; Hebrews 6:10).
