Dr. Kent & Toni Mankins - Lead Pastor

Pastor Kent originally came to Valley Assembly in 1993 as Associate Pastor. After seven years, he was elected the Lead Pastor at Southridge Community Church, also in Spokane. Seven years later he returned to Valley Assembly, and in September of 2008, Pastor Al, Lead Pastor at Valley for almost 23 years, and Pastor Kent traded places in a unique transition. Pastor Kent's vision is to see Valley continue to grow with a strong emphasis on Biblical preaching and teaching, worship, and local and global missions. He married his beautiful wife Toni in 1987 and they have two boys, Logan and Ethan. Together, they enjoy hiking, skiing, biking, and wrestling. He also enjoys reading and hanging out with friends. Pastor Kent received his Bachelor’s from Northwest University in Church Music. He then graduated with a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Idaho. In 2007, Kent graduated with a PhD in Socio-economic Transformation from the University of Buckingham, UK, where he studied part-time for four years. His dissertation was on transcultural team-building. |
Norm & Debbie Thomas - Executive Pastor

Pastor Norm serves as the Executive Pastor for Valley Assembly. From 2000 to 2007 he served as Senior Associate Pastor here at Valley and following a three year break has just recently returned taking on administrative and adult ministry responsibilities. Pastor Norm and Debbie have been married for thirty-one years and have four children and four grandchildren. Pastor Norm enjoys gospel music, working in his yard and house, and getting together with family and friends. |
Pastor Al & Mary Ann Hulten - Associate Pastoral Care

After nearly 23 years, Pastor Al and MaryAnne resigned as Lead Pastor at Valley Assembly and transitioned into the role of Pastoral Care and Visitation for the elderly, sick, or dying. He also leads the Prime Timers (60+) Ministries and is a part of the preaching and teaching team at Valley. Both of their children are grown and they have 3 teenage grandchildren who are now a part of Valley's congregation. Their daughter, Lisa, administrates the nursery. Pastor Al enjoys gardening, picking huckleberries, and downhill skiing. MaryAnne loves to spend time with her family and entertain by cooking beautiful gourmet meals for her guests. |
Pastor Ray & Arlene Weaver - Worship Pastor

Pastor Ray leads all aspects of the music ministry, including Valley's choir, orchestra, instrumental and vocal worship teams. Ray graduated with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Sacred Music and Bible from Northwest University. Ray and Arlene have served in churches at Redmond and Olympia, Washington prior to coming to Valley Assembly. They have two daughters, Kelsey and Lindsey, and they all enjoy evenings at home, movies, family activities, and travel (Disneyland). Ray enjoys listening to most all genres of music, yard work, reading, Husky football, Starbucks coffee, and taking walks with Java (their dog).

Pastor David & Heather Jewett - Children's/Associate Pastor

Pastor David is the Children’s Pastor at Valley Assembly where he provides leadership for KaBoom Kids Ministry which consists of all ministries encompassing birth through 5th grade. He also oversees curriculum development for KaBoom Kids Ministry, providing original curriculum for the Power House. Pastor David graduated from North Central University in 2005 with a B.A. in Children’s Ministry and Minor in Bible, and is a credentialed minister with the Assemblies of God. David’s family consists of his wife Heather, also a credentialed minister, and their beautiful daughter Haley. They are also now expecting their 2nd! Heather is also actively involved in Children’s Ministry. Some of Pastor David’s favorite hobbies include: camping, singing, reading, goofing off with his wife, and drinking Grande Mocha’s from the Starbucks right next door to the church.

Dennis & Sharon Olson - Education Administrator

Dennis and Sharon have lived in the Spokane Valley for more than 30 years. They have been married for 30 years and have two sons. Dennis worked for Central Valley School District for 33 years and currently works for SCC in the education department. Dennis works with the church preschool program, organizes conferences, facilitates teacher training programs and offers the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace classes. As a couple, they are also involved in senior visitations. Sharon & Dennis enjoy spending time with their 2 grown sons, Brandon & Ben. Both are married and serving the Lord by using their giftings in church ministries.

Lauri Roskamp - Office Administrator

Lauri has been with Valley assembly for the past 14 years and does a wonderful job keeping the staff organized, producing brochures, bulletins, newsletters, and many other administrative duties. She is also involved with the youth department and music ministries. She is married to her amazing husband Court and has 5 terrific kids. Her family welcomed a beautiful baby girl, their 4th grandchild, in March of 2011! Lauri enjoys reading (especially in the warm sun!), sports, being with her family and drinking caramel beverages from Starbucks. |
